Chamber Christmas event to be single-day

This year’s Wauneta Chamber of Commerce Christmas Kick-Off will last half as long, but still will have the same amount of attractions.
Ariel Fanning, co-chair of the event, said the chili cook-off and Santa Saturday will be held on the same day, rather than having them on different days as has been done in the past. Events will be start earlier than in past years.
In past years, the cook-off was the Monday after Thanksgiving and the rest of the activities — a matinee movie, visit from Santa and parade of lights — were held in December.
“Our thoughts on what we might do are a little different than what we usually do,” Fanning said. “As far as schedules go, with people involved that are putting these things on, it just seems to work out a lot better. As far as changing things up, sometimes that a good thing; we might get more attendance, too.”
No firm date has been set for the event. “We have potential dates in mind, but nothing set in stone,” Fanning said.
The date will be set at the Chamber’s next meeting Nov. 11, she said. If it can be done, the aaim is to hold it early in December, she said.
