Chase County Commissioners Dave Hogsett, Chuck Vette and Don Weiss, Jr. met Nov. 28 for the board’s second meeting of the month.
    After a month of discussion, the commissioners renewed the county’s insurance for employees through Hayes Company.
    Representatives with Hayes Company had said the county’s options were “not great” during the Oct. 24 commissioners’ meeting, adding that claims have jumped dramatically over last two years.
    In an effort to help the situation, the commissioners passed a resolution offering a “Conditional Cash-In-Lieu option to group medical insurance policy.” Employees may receive $350 per month after providing proof of coverage for an alternative type of insurance. Medicare was most often mentioned during discussions.

GIS contracts
    Billie Muehlenkamp informed the board that GIS Workshop will waive part of its annual maintenance if the county will add two years on to the business’ contract.
    With a new expiration date of Dec. 31, 2021, GIS Workshop will waive $3,600 of maintenance billing for the address point layer.
