Several members from Chase County who are part of the 2019 Cattlemen’s Ball Committee toured the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha recently to see firsthand what their fundraising efforts will continue to do. The “Ball,” in its 22nd annual year, will be held June 7-8 near Enders Reservoir. Committee tours Buffett Cancer Center; tickets on sale now
The daunting yet rewarding task to “Round Up a Cure” for cancer research became very real recently for members of the 2019 Cattlemen’s Ball Committee from Chase County.
The group toured the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha to see firsthand what their fundraising efforts will continue to do.
“I was amazed at how the Buffett Center is designed to all work together for the patient. The doctors, scientists and staff are all right here, meeting together to analyze a patient’s condition and to communicate the best treatment options,” Marlene Cox, Ball Committee member said.
“I was also impressed with the places that were created within the Center to give the patient and family the ability to enjoy seeing the stars or a beautiful garden from their confinement, rather it be from a wheelchair or a bed,” she said.
Ball co-host Allison Sandman of Wauneta said, “It was the most touching tour and afternoon spent at the Buffett Cancer Center. We learned that every patient’s treatment is designed around them and their cancer. No two patients are treated the same.”
