Computer issue stalls water project

Problems getting software and hardware to talk to each other have put a slight delay in Wauneta’s $1.3 million water project.
“We’re waiting on a component of the control system that will enable us to monitor the flow rate coming into town,” said David Blau, engineer for Miller and Associates. “Actually, it’s a communications thing.”
Components of the water system hook into water meters, he explained, and those meters transmit a signal to a communications system that monitors and regulates the actual flow of water coming into town.
That needs to be done, particularly with the two wells north of village, so the water tank there doesn’t get drained.
Currently, the village is waiting for the hardware to arrive, but even once that’s hooked up the software will have to be tweaked.
