Coronavirus shows up in Chase County

COVID-19 has come to Chase County,.
In a post on its website, Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department said a county resident has tested positive for the virus.
The male in his late 70s is hospitalized  and authorities are investigating how he acquired the virus.
The Chase County case brings to 17 the number in the agency’s nine-county region, which includes Chase, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Hayes, Hitchcock, Keith, Perkins and Red Willow counties. Thirteen of those have recovered, are no longer showing symptoms and are out of self-isolation, the agency said.
In a news release, SWNPHD said it has received guidelines for the upcoming state directed health measures that will go into effect Monday and remain until at least June 30. The measures mean that the health district has moved into phase two of reopening which will, among other things, increase the limit on gatherings from 10 to 25.
The new order lays out measures for summer activities.
The state will follow 2008 American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines on opening sports.
Baseball, softball and volleyball practices may being June 1, with games beginning June 18. Rodeo events may also begin June 1.
