Drug take-back event scheduled for March 25th in Imperial

Do you have prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet and don’t know what to do with them?  The Imperial Police Department and Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department are working together to host a Drug Take-Back Event oån Saturday, March 25th from 10:00 am to Noon at the front entrance of the police department.
“We have numerous people ask what to do with their unused prescriptions,” explains Chad Ostmeyer, Sergeant with the Imperial Police Department.  “We wanted to help solve this situation and we found a partner with Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department.”
“We will have an officer at the event and be responsible for the secure collection of the drugs,” explains Sergeant Ostmeyer.  “We would appreciate no needles, sharps or liquids.”
The goal is to provide a safe, secure and environmentally responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.  SWNPHD encourages residents of southwest Nebraska to take advantage of this opportunity and to not flush your old meds down the toilet or throw them in the trash.
