    Shelly Yoder, Kerry Denker and Kenny and Cleophia Denker went to Sutherland on Friday to watch the Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball game.
    The Wauneta-Palisade Lady Broncos have made eight state appearances, including last week’s, in the last 14 years under the coaching of Roger Lauhead. Palisade had one appearance prior to the consolidation with Wauneta. Wauneta didn’t reach the state tournament until joining with Palisade.
    Kerry Hamilton and Shelby and Sharon Miller spent the day with Mindi Goings and RanDee Littrel and children in the Goings home on Wednesday.
    Shad and Nicole Wiese of Palisade went to Kearney Friday to attend the Nebraska Bow Hunters Association banquet.

    Ashli Grimes celebrated her ninth birthday with an overnight slumber party with Kristyn Kuskie, Jenica LaBore and Somer Schneider. Ryan Stepler was a guest of her brother J. D. Grimes.
    Hugh and Nancy Anderson and Ben of Benkelman were Sunday dinner guests of LeeRoy and Clairene Weimer.
    Joni Travis spent the weekend at home with the Ted Travis family. Jean Travis was a Sunday guest to observe Ted’s birthday.

50 years ago this week

    Jack Tepley was honored at a birthday dinner at his home Sunday to help remind him of his 86th birthday. The tables were filled with lots of food and two beautiful, decorated cakes.
    Miss Melody Sandman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Sandman was named first place alternate winner of the Nebraska State Jaycees Annual Americanism Contest.
    Keith Busking, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Busking of Palisade, has been selected to represent the Palisade community at the annual Cornhusker Boys’ State held in Lincoln.  Keith is a junior at Palisade High School.
