    Four Wauneta-Palisade seniors earn their State FFA Degree on Saturday. Lane Egle, Tyler Kerchal, Cody Nichols and Luke Wright will accept their State Degrees in Lincoln, culminating years of work.
    Senior Chad Flaig won first place in the 1600 meter run at Cambridge Invitational track meet and took home the Don Stine traveling trophy for the year.
    Sharon Miller was a guest of honor for her 50th birthday at a surprise party held Saturday at the legion hall. Helping her celebrate with supper and cake were a host of family and friends.

    Village of Wauneta voters will decide in the May primary whether or not to allow keno to be operated here in town.
    Rod Haarberg, a 6-foot, 206-lb., sophomore fullback on the University of Nebraska football team, earned the exclusive honor of having his name added to the Record Platform in the Huskers’ Strength Complex. Haarberg, a 1989 graduate of Wauneta High School, is the son of Kent and Elaine Haarberg of Wauneta.
    T. J. Adams and Kari Brunkhorst were among players named to their respestive All-GPAC teams for basketball season.

    O. J. Knotwell has taken over the operation of the Knotwell Blacksmith shop in Wauneta. Junior, as he is called, moved back to Wauneta after an absence of 19 years; after the death of his father Otis. He was a 1942 graduate.
    Wauneta’s Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Bob Fye farm north of Wauneta last Thursday afternoon. A lambing shed was totally encompassed by the blaze and was completely burned before being brought under control. Six sheep were reported lost in the fire.
    Leland Kitt of Palisade was re-elected president of the Nebraska Rural Electric Association in Lincoln on Thursday.
