    Wauneta-Palisade Coach Dave Kuhlen was named Coach of the year by the McCook Gazette after winning the Class D1 state championship.
    Jack Hunt of Wauneta was among drivers who received awards at the 17th annual Driver’s Safety Awards Banquet. He received the 2006 BMCT Driver of the Year award. Les Houser, also of Wauneta, has achieved a four-year membership in the President’s Safe Driving Club.
    The art work of seven-year-old Maycee Majors was chosen to be displayed at the Lied  Center for the Performing Arts in celebration of March Youth Art Month. She is the daughter of Leigh Majors of Lincoln.
    Dotty Gauger took Virginia Gauger and Erma Kitt to the birthday open house for Ethel Louch on Saturday afternoon. They enjoyed visiting with old friends and neighbors.

    Theresa Barger and Bethany Monnahan will attend Girls State in Lincoln sponsored by Post 304 of Wauneta and the Volunteer Firemen. Barbie  Wood was named an alternate. Doug Wilson was named as Boys Stater to represent the American Legion Post 304 of Wauneta with Cory Nordhausen named as an alternate.
    Jessica and Sarah Harrison spent the weekend with Rev. Tim Bauer and family at Franklin.
    The U. S. Achievement Academy has announced that Kerri Pfeiffer, a sophomore at Wauneta-Palisade High School, has been named a U.S. National Award winner in English. She is the daughter of Dennis and Sheila Pfeiffer of Wauneta.
    Lloyd and Kathy Kerchal and Justin visited in the home of Natalie and Bob Stevens Sunday morning.
