Nebraska gets updated election equipment

A representative from Election Systems and Software of Omaha was in Imperial last week installing new election ballot equipment.
New systems include the DS200 for tabulation and the ExpressVote, which is what the voters will use to make their votes.
According to ES&S’s website, the ExpressVote “uses touch-screen technology that produces a paper record for tabulation.
As a marker, the ExpressVote handles the entire marking process, eliminating marginal marks and the need for interpretation of the voter’s mark.”
The DS200 is a ballot scanner and vote tabulator.
“I think it should be fairly comparable (to the old system),” Chase County Clerk Debbie Clark said. “From the training we had, it doesn’t look like there will be a whole lot of difference that the public will see,” she added.
