Landen Lawless of Wauneta’s Southwest Nebraska Properties purchased the formerly village-owned apartment buildings for $60,000 — the original minimum bid when the village first tried to sell the properties.

New owner takes over apartments

As of Thursday morning, the Village of Wauneta was out of the apartment rental business.
City officials and Landen Lawless of Southwest Nebraska Properties in Wauneta closed that day on the sale of three duplexes, each containing two apartments.
Lawless bought the property in November for $60,000. It was the Village Board’s second attempt to sell the property.
“I feel like it’s a good investment,” Lawless said after the closing. “Not only for me, but the village, too.”
Rents will remain the same: $350 a month for the four two-bedroom apartments and $300 for the two one-bedrooms. Those prices don’t include utilities.
