New zoning rules adopted

The Chase County Commissioners adopted all proposed changes to the county’s zoning regulations during a public hearing at the Jan. 8 commissioners’ meeting.
Planning and Zoning committee member Charley Colton and consultant Keith Marvin were on hand to go over the changes and answer any questions. No members of the public were at the hearing.
The changes are the second update since 2000. In 2010 the zoning regulations were changed and the comprehensive plan was updated in 2015.
“The comprehensive plan is what we do, the zoning regs provide for the effectiveness and implantation of the comprehensive plan,” Colton said.
Marvin said the changes are to try to stay ahead of the trends and things that are showing up, but he the regulations still don’t cover everything “you may run into“ in the future.
