Last week Hamlet, Palisade, Culbertson, Hayes Center and Haigler received “in-lieu of tax” payments from Southwest Public Power District totaling $82,333.33.
    The customers in these communities are served directly by SWPPD. Payments are five percent of the 2016 electric sales within the incorporated villages.
    Tax payments were $2,306.06 on Hamlet sales, $17,926.48 on Palisade sales, $40,955.26 on Culbertson sales, $12,954.96 on Hayes Center sales and $8,190.57 on Haigler sales.
