Wauneta Catholic church among those getting subpoenas

The Catholic church in Wauneta was one of 400 in Nebraska that has received subpoenas regarding child sexual abuse or assault, but that doesn’t mean anything is suspected of happening here, officials said.
The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office announced last week that the subpoenas had been sent to Catholic churches and institutions in the state requesting all records or information “related to any child sexual assault or abuse that has occurred by those employed or associated with each church or institution, whether previously reported or not.”
The Attorney General’s Office announced Friday that attorneys for the  Lincoln and Omaha dioceses filed motions to quash the subpoenas.
“Based on information the Dioceses voluntarily provided in the fall of 2018 in response to the Attorney General’s letter to Nebraska Dioceses, it was apparent the records produced were not complete,” the Friday release said.
