Wauneta Community Building in the running for matching fund grant

There has been a tremendous amount of community support focused on the Wauneta Community Building as of late. The efforts from the Village of Wauneta and its community members went above and beyond the necessary $25,000 and raised $31,948 meeting the requirements for the Community Center Grant Matching Fund through the Civic and Community Center Financing Fund. At a free will donation dinner and silent auction in Jan. 2017, three donors were found to match the free will donation up to $2,500 including Harchelroad Motors, Western States Bank and HomeTown Agency. The night brought in $2,578 from donations and $1,275 from the silent auction meeting the goal. All required paperwork/finances have been submitted and the village will have results by sometime in March. The funds raised are going towards a new heating and cooling system, new cooler in the kitchen, improving handicap accessibility, kitchen improvements and courtyard beautification.
