Work Ethic Camp escapee caught walking on highway

A man is back in custody after escaping from a minimum security facility near McCook.
Aaron Schlieker, 25, was recaptured around 4:15 a.m. Monday at mile marker 96 on Highway 34 near Indianola, Red Willow County Sheriff Alan Kotschwar said.
Kotschwar said an ambulance crew driving by on the highway had heard Schlieker’s description, spotted him walking along the road and called authorities.
He put up no resistance and said nothing, the sheriff said.
According to a press release from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, Schlieker escaped from Work Ethic Camp just after 7 p.m. Sunday.
He was serving a three-to-five-year sentence for a burglary in Dodge City. He is due to be released in April 2020, but is eligible for parole in 2019.
