Carleton Lewis Fletcher

    Carleton Lewis Fletcher passed away July 5, 2019, in Chula Vista, California. Carl was born March 6, 1934, in Franklin, Nebraska. He lived in Palisade and graduated from high school in 1952, entering the U.S. Navy that same year. Carl served in the Navy with distinction for 22 years, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, where he earned several citations and medals, including the Bronze Star Medal. In Vietnam, he served with River Patrol Force TF-116, Division 593, The Iron Butterfly. Upon retiring from the Navy as a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate, he worked for the San Diego Community College District for 19 years.  
    Carl enjoyed traveling and spending time with this family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a founding member, he also took great pride in his work on the Vietnam Unit Memorial Monument at the Naval Base Coronado.  
    Preceding him in death are his parents Bill and Marjorie Fletcher; his sister Mary; and his son Roy. He is survived by his wife Kimi; daughter Margaret Lamb and her husband Robert; grandchildren Allen Lamb and his wife Bianca; Roy Fletcher, Jr.; Heather Gonzales and her husband Daniel; Joshua Fletcher and his wife Cristina; great-grandchildren Logan, Cyrus and Noah Gonzales, and Nuvia Fletcher; and his sisters Margaret Berger, Janice Yungling and Maxine Seyforth.
