Florence Mabel Crown

Florence Mabel Crown was born to Russell and Iola Blanch (Christensen) McFadden on July 17, 1925 in Kirwin, Kansas.
She grew up in the Kirwin community and graduated from Kirwin High School. She was united in marriage to Thaine Crown on Jan. 1, 1946 in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
To this union, five children were born. They settled first in Beattie, Kansas and eventually made a home in Imperial, Nebraska.
Florence worked as a nurse’s aide for 35 years at the Chase County Community Hospital and also helped Thaine with the groundskeeping at the Imperial Country Club. She was a proud and active member of the VFW Post #4688 Auxiliary in Imperial. Florence enjoyed golf, cooking, gardening, traveling, needlework, reading, crossword puzzles and she loved her pets, especially Miss Willie.
Florence passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2018 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial. She was 93 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thaine.
Survivors include daughters June Hoover of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Judy (Larry) Richardson of Garden City, Kansas, and Jennifer (Steve) Smith of Eastsound, Washington; sons Thaine (Cha Suk) Crown Jr. of Chandler, Arizona, and Jim (Sharon) Crown of Brady; sister-in-law Wilma McDowell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial with Pastor Alex Gerbert and Mr. Randy Hayes officiating. Interment followed services in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
 No visitation; it was Florence’s wish for the casket to remain closed before and during services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
