Maxine Ellen Scott

Maxine Ellen Scott, age 86, of Palisade passed away at the Wauneta Therapy and Care Center in Wauneta, Nebraska on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.
Maxine was born in Hill City, Graham County, Kansas, March 31, 1933 to Ralph Alva and Ella Mae (Bethell) LaShell. She was one of six children. Maxine graduated from the Hayes Center High School in 1950. She taught at a country school for one semester near Hayes Center. On Dec. 27, 1950 she married Robert (Bob) Edwin Scott and they lived in Palisade until his death in 1991. To this union two daughters were born: Linda and Barbara.
In true Maxine style she worked with Bob in running the station by running errands for tires, parts, etc., helping with the monthly statements and by being his biggest supporter. On Thursday, June 8, 2018, Maxine enjoyed a retirement reception from the Palisade/Wauneta Co-Op for 32 years of working mainly those early morning hours.
Maxine enjoyed volunteering and working with her friends in the Friendly Neighbors Club, Community Club, United Methodist Women, Evening Circle, Tuesday Bible Study, and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed playing dominoes, cards with her friends, and even cribbage. She and her friends loved spending time drinking coffee and visiting on Saturday mornings or any other day of the week. She was a great hostess for her friends and was known to make a lot of brownies. She was an avid reader who enjoyed several area newspapers, books, her Bible and devotions daily. With each surgery Maxine fought hard in Physical and Occupational therapy to return to her home, church, friends and her community. She was the happiest being home!!
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; sister Bonnie and husband Harold Moon; and brother-in-law Robert Sexton.
Survivors include her daughters Linda and Barbara Scott of Beatrice; grandchildren Travis, Mason and Stacie Bruns; great-grandchildren Keirra, Aidan, and Karsen Bruns and Kylie Belt and Ziel Tut; sisters, Phyllis Sexton of North Platte and Peggy (Mike) Scott of Omaha; brothers, Gary (Meredith) LaShell of Topeka, Kansas and Arden (Betty) LaShell of York.
