Nordhausen and Maris earn degrees at Doane University

Doane University awarded 462 degrees during its Spring Commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 14 in Cassel Open Air Theatre in Crete.
    Delivering the keynote address for the morning ceremony for the College of Professional Studies and Graduate Studies in Education was Michelle Waite, a 1992 Doane graduate and 11-year legislative aide in the Nebraska Legislature. Waite was appointed as assistant to the chancellor for community relations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and currently serves as the principal adviser to Chancellor Ronnie Green regarding university relations between the university and many of its external constituencies.
    Senior Minister at First Plymouth Church in Lincoln and member of the Doane Board of Trustees, Rev. Dr. Jim Keck, delivered the keynote address for the College of Arts & Sciences ceremony in the afternoon. Rev. Keck received an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and a graduate degree in Berkeley, California. He received his Doctorate of Ministry from Andover Newton Seminary and was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1990.
    Students graduating with honors are denoted as SCL (Summa Cum Laude–top 4.00 GPA), MCL (Magna Cum Laude–3.98-3.99 GPA) and CL (Cum Laude–3.94-3.98 GPA).
    Jacob J. Maris, Bachelor of Science, Enviromental Science. Maris is the son of Jeff and Laurie Maris of Wauneta.
    Tayler K. Nordhausen, Bachelor of Arts, History. Nordhausen is the daughter of Chad and Sunni Nordhausen of Wauneta.
