Plans for WP commencement set
Plans are set for Wauneta-Palisade School District’s belated graduation ceremony.
The event will be 10:30 a.m. MT Saturday in the gym in Wauneta.
Each of the 14 graduates in this year’s class will be allowed 25 guests at the ceremony, School Superintendent Randy Geier said.
“They submit a list to me and we check them off on the list and there’s only 25 chairs sitting in their area,” he said.
That will mean a change to the gym’s layout for the ceremony; guests will be seated on the gym floor, while graduates will sit, with appropriate social distancing, on the south-side bleachers.
“We get more guests in that way,” Geier said.
The only unknown is how graduates will actually be handed their diplomas, whether they’ll come up in a line or individually, he said.
“I’m not sure 100 percent what we’ll do,” he said. “We’ll try to make it as normal as possible, but we’ll see what the guidelines [are].”
