Wauneta-Palisade graduates 17 in Saturday ceremony

Wauneta-Palisade High School’s class of 2019 took a big step into its future Saturday with a commencement ceremony at the high school. Seventeen students received their diplomas and accolades from school staff, teachers, friends and family.
Speaker for the event was WP teacher and basketball coach Dave Kuhlen, who will be leaving the district for next school year.
“This has been a year of change since I spoke last year,” Kuhlen said. “Probably the biggest change is I’m now on social media.”
In keeping with that, he live-tweeted a clip of the ceremony, encouraging the audience and graduates to cheer so he could label it “wild graduation.”
Kuhlen’s speech mixed gentle ribbing of many members of the class with solid life advice.
