WP art students spread their wings at Kansas, Colorado art shows

Wauneta-Palisade art students and teacher Danny Schluckebier have traveled out of state during the second semester to take part in art shows at Colby (Kansas) Community College and Holyoke, Colorado.
It was WP’s second year taking art to Colby Community College for Art on the Oasis.
Schluckebier said there’s always a variety of great art and a lot of art from established artists from the community and surrounding area. He added that his students enjoy the diverse media and other artists they compete against.
“Just getting their artwork to another area of the map where we don’t normally see is cool,” Schluckebier said. The event also helps him network with other members of the art community and visit about how they encourage their students.
Separate from the students’ gallery is one for amateur and professional artist. Schluckebier said there were more very good professional artwork, plus an opening gala, which gave the show a bigger feel.
“It felt like we were in a big city at an art gallery unveiling,” said Schluckebier.” “There was a very good student artwork section as well.”
Madyson Hood earned honorable mention for her painting titled “Hope World”
Schluckebier also earned honorable mention for his professional sculpture titled “Clock”. To read the full story, subscribe to the e-edition online or call the Breeze at 308-394-5389 to subscribe to the print edition.
