WP Board delays setting graduation date

With the course of the coronavirus pandemic still fluid, the Wauneta School Board will wait until next month’s meeting to set a date for graduation ceremonies — and to decide exactly what shape they will take.
Superintendent Randy Geier told the board during its regular meeting Monday that the only district in the area that actually has set a date is McCook. Their graduation will be July 31, he said, adding that they’ve already had to change the new date once.
“The other schools, everything is up in the air,” he said.
Geier acknowledged that families need to plan for a graduation ceremony, so the board can’t take too long to set a final date, but there’s still time.
“If we can give [families] a couple weeks notice, that would be fine,” he said.
