Physical Mullen team shuts down Wauneta-Palisade

For the second week in a row the Wauneta-Palisade football team knew it was heading into a tough match up.
    Last week, WP played Garden County which sits in ninth place in Class D2 points. This week the Broncos faced Mullen, the team sitting in 11th in the point standings in Paxton.
    Mullen had breezed through its early schedule, putting up 76, 56 and 58 points in three wins.
    Mullen on its first possession then once more with 3:14 in the first quarter.
    WP was able to quickly answer Mullen’s second touchdown with a 56-yard run by Austen Rozelle.
    From there Mullen ran away from the Broncos. WP trailed 42-7 at halftime.
    The Broncos scored with 12 seconds left in the game on a Ty Duvel three-yard run to make the final score 13-64.
    WP finished with 187 rushing yards in the game. Rozelle led WP in rushing with 78 yards on six carries. Dalton Harchelroad finished with 64 yards on 15 carries. Each scored a touchdown.
