The Wauneta-Palisade track teams’ season are nearly half over after meets at Dundy County-Stratton and Cambridge.
    WP traveled to Benkelman Tuesday, April 3. Both teams finished third in the five team meet.
    WP Head Coach Dawn Doetker called the weather brutal, but said her team pushed through and fought hard.
    Ben Anderjaska won the 800-meter run, was second in the 400-dash with a personal best and placed third in the 100-meter dash.
    WP’s 4x800-meter relay team, Austen Rozelle, Joel Maris, Braxton McKinney and Cash Yearous, placed first.
    Dennis Cavanaugh won the shot put and was second in the discus after a PR.
    On the girls’ side, Faith Simpson won the 100-meter hurdles, shot put and discus.
    Maycee Wheeler, Alejandra Almanza, Payton Yearous and Zoey Boos teamed up to win the 4x800-meter relay.
    Earning PRs were Lake Reikofski in the 100-meter dash, Rozelle in the 200-meter dash, McKinney in the 1,600-meter run, Cavanaugh in the discus, Maris and Anderjaska with their splits in the 1,600-meter relay, Haley Walker in the 100-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles, Haylee Sandman in the 200-meter dash and long jump, Boos in the 1,600-meter run, Sarah Christensen in the 100-meter hurdles and Kendra Bley in the triple jump.
