Wauneta-Palisade headed to state with come-from-behind win

After missing the state tournament last season, the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos are headed back to Lincoln.
Despite beating Dundy County-Stratton three times in the past month, twice in the past 10 days, the Broncos were ninth in the Class D1 point standings which matched them up with the eighth-seeded Tigers.
School officials pushed the game back from Saturday to Monday night.
Though the Broncos have shot very well lately, WP struggled from deep in the contest. After trailing by six points at halftime and seven points heading into the fourth quarter, WP rallied to take a 36-33 win.
The NSAA had not posted brackets by Tuesday afternoon, but all clues point to a familiar foe in the first round of the tournament. Sixth seeded WP is expected to be matched up with RPAC West foe Paxton in the first round.
The tournament will run March 7-9. WP will play its opening game at Lincoln East.
