Tucker Boos leaves a trail of Eustis-Farnam Knights on his way to the end zone late in Wauneta-Palisade’s soggy 62-0 blowout Friday.
Wauneta-Palisade knocks out Knights in soggy afternoon game
Cool, wet weather didn’t slow down the Wauneta-Palisade football team any more than Eustis-Farnam could Friday.
WP ran roughshod over the Knights and used a stingy defense to shut down one of D2’s top rushers.
“The weather wasn’t ideal, but really overall it wasn’t too bad. Could have been wetter and colder,” said WP Co-Head Coach Joseph Frecks. “The boys did a great job of not letting things outside of their control affect them.”
WP received the opening kick off and quickly scored on a 22-yard Ty Duvel run.
“It was great for us to get a good start and play the way we are capable of from the get go”, said Frecks. “That is something that we have been working to do is play to our potential from start to finish and be consistent.”
Duvel went on to score on runs of 39 and 60 yards as the Bronco offensive line cleared out all defenders in its path.
Leading 21-0, Caid Doetker returned a interception 27 yards for a touchdown.
Duvel stuck a fork in the Knights with a 51-yard touchdown run to round out scoring in the first quarter.
The big runs kept coming with Austen Rozelle scored on a 64-yard run.
An interception by Cash Yearous late in the first half set up WP at the Knights 11-yard line. Duvel gave WP a 41-0 halftime lead with a six-yard run.
With the large lead, the clock ran throughout the second half.
WP coaches went deep into their bench in the second half and found success on both sides of the ball.
Duvel scored his sixth touchdown of the game in the third quarter and Tucker Boos found the end zone from around 25-yard out in the fourth quarter.
Duvel finished the game with an even 200 yards on 11 carries. Rozelle finished with 115 yards.
