Wrestlers pick up wins at DCS, Garden County invites

Back-to-back meets challenged the Wauneta-Palisade wrestling squad last week.
Experience is a key for the Broncos. WP Coach Danny Schluckebier mentioned that most of his wrestlers are going up against more experienced wrestlers, and it shows. Still, he said, the team has good energy and drive to keep getting better.
Schluckebier said Friday at the Dundy County-Stratton Invite was a tough day all around.
Practices are going well, he said, but he’d like to see practices kick up a notch to help the wrestlers be better prepared for tough meets.
Three wins helped Colby Hoskovec to a third-place finish at the Dundy County-Stratton Invite.
Faith Lemon, in her first official match of the season, and Cody Holmes each won two matches in Benkelman. Cole Hamilton also won a match Friday while spending the day going up against bigger opponents in the 220-pound bracket.
Senior Evan Nordhausen re-injured a shoulder in his third match at DCS, but bounced back to compete again Saturday.
Wyatt Muths and Hunter Miner also competed in Benkelman.
WP turned around a traveled to the Garden County Invite Saturday morning.
