Wrestling season ends in disappointment at districts
The Wauneta-Palisade wrestling season came to a close at North Platte St. Pat’s Saturday at districts.
Sophomores Hunter Miner and Cody Holmes both wrestled that day after teammates Tennille Warembourg, Zackary Barrett, Koltar Rahn and Cole Hamilton saw their season’s end Friday with losses in both their matches of the double-elimination district meet.
Holmes and Miner both lost their first round matches, but bounced back with pins, Holmes on Friday and Miner on Saturday.
Holmes lost in the consolation quarterfinals of the 13-man 182-pound bracket.
Miner, in an eight-man bracket, also fell one win short of a trip to state at 132 pounds.
