14th Triennial reunion brings Nordhausen family together again

Once again descendants of Dietrick and Dorthea (Wicke) Nordhausen family came together to celebrate the importance of family.
This year the reunion was held at the farm of Harold and Jan Nordhausen on Aug. 3 and 4, 2018.
The two day event was hosted by the Herman, Carl and Dick Nordhausen families. This year the family members had a choice of three t-shirts to choose from. One of the shirts was a throwback shirt of the 1998 reunion, 30 years ago. Cory Norhausen provided the sound system and music for the two-day event.
Friday’s events began with golfing at Enders Lake Golf Course. In the afternoon, kids and adults enjoyed fun swimming at the Wauneta Pool. The Friday evening events were delayed by a brief rainstorm. During the evening, kids and adults had a choice of several games. A water obstacle course, water slide, a dunking stand, horseshoes, cornhole, washer toss and a nine square ball game was enjoyed by so many. After the rain delay, guests were treated to a supper of brats, hot dogs, hot german potato salad, chips, watermelon and cookies. Registration for Friday evening events numbered about 200.
Saturday events began at 1:00 p.m. with registration. Approximately 292 people attended the days activities. The games continued to be a big hit again on Saturday. Bingo was provided to those members who wanted to stay in the shade. Barry Mooney provided entertainment with his knack of twisting balloons into animals and shapes of flowers. Scrapbooks from the previous years were looked at over the two-day event. Ellie Upton designed a bound scrapbook from the 2015 reunion. It was a hit over the weekend and once some corrections are made, orders will be taken for the 2015 scrapbook. Family members brought homemade items plus other goodies to donate to the silent action held on Saturday.
New this year to help with taking pictures was a drone that belonged to Dalton Harchelroad. Hannah and Brooklyn Nordhausen also took pictues of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth generations. Pictures were taken of the families of Fred, Chris, Carl, Dick and Herman Nordhuasen and Dora (Nordhausen) Denker members. A picture of former miltary veterans and of the outlaws were taken.
