Alumni weekend will feature golf tournament

Spring is just around the corner and so is Wauneta/Wauneta-Palisade alumni weekend. This year’s alumni events will have a new twist—a 9-hole golf tournament.     The class of 2002, spearheaded by Julie Sparrow, is planning this year’s events.
The first annual Wauneta-Palisade Alumni Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday, May 27 at Enders Lake Golf Course starting at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT. The tournament will be open to four-person teams. Within the teams two individuals should be Wauneta or Wauneta-Palisade alumni. The tournament entrance fee will be $120 per team.
Sparrow will soon contact area businesses to ask them to provide pin prizes for the tournament.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT in order to give participants plenty of time to get ready for the alumni events later in the day.
Things will kick off at the school starting at 5:30 p.m. MT/6:30 p.m. CT with school tours and class photos. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. MT/7:30 p.m. CT. The committee is in the process of working to secure a caterer for the banquet.
There will not be an alumni dance this year, but Sparrow said the Wauneta Community Building will be open for alums  to meet after the banquet to visit and mingle.
Sparrow said invitation letters to members of the honor classes will be mailed soon. However, if alums would like to reserve their spot in the golf tournament they are welcome to send in the registration fee and a list of team members now.
