Commissioner files for re-election

Chase County has its first filing for a county position this election cycle.
While he’s not the first candidate to file (Mason Holmes put his name in the hat for the Imperial mayor’s race), incumbent Dave Hogsett of Champion made it officially the first filing for a county-level seat.
According to Election Commissioner Debbie Clark, Hogsett filed Dec. 29 for Dist. #2 commissioner, a seat to which he was first elected four years ago.
Clark said all subdivisions in the county are to provide her with those seats up for election in their entities by this Friday. She then anticipates publishing the official list of seats up for election later this month.
For most elected offices, Feb. 15 is the deadline for incumbents to file for office. New office-seekers to that position have until March 1.
