Diabetes association presents Certificate of Recognition to Julie Levy, Chase County Community Hospital dietitian

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) presented Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH) with a Certificate of Recognition as a result of the efforts of Julie Levy, registered dietitian and board certified in advanced diabetes management.
Levy has been on staff at CCCH for seven years as a diabetes advisor.
Until recently, the hospital did not have an accredited educational program available
to diabetic patients that was covered by major medical health insurance.
Thanks to Levy pursuing a recognized program that met the standard for diabetes self-management education, diabetics can now enroll in a complete, all-encompassing educational program covered by insurance rather than out-of-pocket.
“The hospital can offer this service to more diabetic patients to not only benefit their health, but charges for the program can be submitted to their insurance companies,” Levy said.
Levy attended a two-day training session through Heartland Health Alliance under Bryan Health in Lincoln to learn how to implement the program.
She said preparation for this self-management educational program took four months in order to launch at CCCH.
