Hospital starting monthly lab draw testing service

Due to certain medical conditions, many people must undergo regular blood draws so their health professionals can monitor them. Others wish to assess their health status on a more regular basis
With that in mind, Chase County Community Hospital is starting monthly blood testing services.
Calling the service My Health Tuesday, the direct access patient laboratory testing will be offered the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 MT/8:30 CT to 11:30 a.m. MT/12:30 p.m. MT in the hospital lab in Imperial or at the Wauneta Clinic.
The first My Health Tuesday arrives next week on April 10.
With the new program, individuals can come to the hospital’s laboratory and receive select tests without a doctor’s written order.
This type of lab testing is characterized by individuals choosing which tests they would like from a limited menu and paying up-front for the cost.
Tests offered include the general health panel ($25) for liver and kidney function, electrolyte balance and blood sugar level; lipid panel ($25) to indicate risk of heart attack or stroke caused by blockage of blood vessels due to high cholesterol and/or triglycerides; and the Hemoglobin A1c ($25) to help determine risk of developing problems from diabetes, such as kidney failure, vision problems and leg or foot numbness.
Also offered are Thyroid Stimulating Hormone ($25) to evaluate thyroid disorders; Prostate Specific Antigen ($25) for the detection of prostate infection, enlargement or cancer; Vitamin D ($60) for evaluation of bone health; and Complete Blood Count ($20) to screen for anemia, infection, leukemia and platelet disorders.
