May 15 Primary election day quickly approaching

The long-awaited day is almost here—Primary election day. In Chase County three offices have races in the Primary—treasurer and commissioner District 2 and 3.
    Incumbent treasurer Cynthia Shoenberger is up against challenger Penny Strand both of whom are running on the Republican ticket. Because there is no Democratic challenger the race will be decided at the Primary.
    The District 3 commissioner race with Sid Bartels, Mark Davidson and Dennis Kunnemann fits the same bill.
    The District 2 race involves Republican incumbent David Hogsett who will face Jacci Brown and Jim Hayes with the winner advancing to the General.
    Once there, that person will face Libertarian candidate Duncan Einspahr who is currently a sheriff’s deputy for the county.
    County Clerk Debra Clark, Republican, will face Billie Hayes, Democrat in the General Election to claim county clerk.
    The candidates automatically advancing to the General Election is based on the number of candidates filing for the season.
