The new Expo building at the Chase County Fairgrounds was full of smiles and music Friday night when the Chase County Hospital Foundation hosted its second annual Gala. The evening’s theme was “A Night to Remember for a Mammography Machine.”
    The Gala began with opening remarks from Steve Lewis, Chase County Community Hospital CEO. Lewis told attendees about the importance of the new mammography machine and about the number of hospital patrons who have already taken advantage of its advanced technology.
    Jack’s Country Cooking provided a meal of prime rib or chicken. The Beverage Barn provided a cash bar at the event.
    Rand and Peggy Levy gave attendees a chance to capture the moment with a photo booth where they could pose for a professional-quality photograph. Proceeds of the photo booth will be donated back to the foundation.
    The evening’s entertainment was provided by Fun Pianos by 176 Keys of Seward. Fun Keys owner Sam Ferguson of Seward and colleague Katy Marquardt of Chicago roused the crowd for a variety of sing-a-longs throughout the evening.
    Attendees were called to the pianos to lead the audience in dance and song. The room was filled with smiling faces throughout the evening—some smiling because they got drawn into the action, others because they escaped.
    Some started the evening off feeling a little shy, but Ferguson and Marquardt drew attendees out of the crowd and made sure all had a good time. The evening’s entertainment ended with a conga line that snaked and danced its way through the room.
