The Wauneta-Palisade wrestling team continued to gain experience last week with a trip to the Southern Valley Invite.
    WP Coach Danny Schluckebier said it was a tough meet, especially for his freshmen wrestlers.
    “It takes a lot of their energy and confidence to walk into this meet and wrestle five times with guys that are more experienced,” Schluckebier said. “It is just hard.”
    The day was eye-opening in terms of conditioning and stamina, but will hopefully serve as motivation to work harder and get stronger and smarter, he added.
    While the day got off to a slow start, “everyone had one match where they wrestled really well. It seemed like the later in the day, the better we wrestled as a team,” Schluckebier said.
