Youths can win kayak, more in Game & Parks essay contest
Two prize packages worth close to $275 each are up for grabs in the third annual Kayak Kids’ Essay Competition, sponsored by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission.
Beau Licking, superintendent at Enders Lake Recreation Area, said youths can win an eight-foot Emotion kayak, an Emotion paddle and life jacket if their essay is picked the winner.
There are two chances to win since there are two age groups, age 10-14 and 15-18, with one kayak prize package awarded in each.
Entries must be a hand-written 250-word essay expressing why growing up in the outdoors is important.
A photo of the essay writer at one of the southwest Nebraska parks or reservoirs must be submitted with the essay. One of the eligible parks/reservoirs is Enders Lake Recreation Area.
