Longtime Palisade volunteer Betty Simants served as Grand Marshal for the 35th Palisade Pioneer Days parade. Simants has spent many years as a volunteer for the fire department and as an EMT. She continues to support the volunteer fire department by cooking them meals when they are called out. Driving the truck is Ray Ridlen with Simant’s great-grandchildren Khaliah Granillo and Trace Decker riding along.

Jim and Connie Maxfield were the lucky home owners to receive June’s “Yard of the Month” chosen by the Wauneta Chamber’s Beautification Committee. Sara Bardsley with the Beautification Committee said their yard was chosen because its well kept, nicely edged and very appealing. The Maxfield’s are always out working on their yard to keep it looking nice.
